WHY I DO FASHION DESIGN? Starting my foundation course in 2017, I was approaching the experimental year with an open mind. Willing to try new things and find new passions, I fell in love with fashion & textiles. Having always been a common interest of mine and being introduced to so many more paths I hadn't yet considered; I decided to dedicate the year to producing enough experiments and garments to get me into Nottingham Trent University. Throughout my website you will be following me through the process of thriving in fashion design and all the experiments that come with it. |
ABIT ABOUT ME.
I'm currently completing my first year of fashion design at Nottingham Trent university. I've always had a passion for art and design and after completing my A levels at Queens school Sixth form, I decided to delve further into the possible paths of design I could see myself working in; as a result of this I completed a foundation course at Oakland college in St Albans. This is where I was first properly introduced to the art within the fashion industry, meeting amazing tutors who have come from well established industry work and having the opportunity to explore the industry in action on multiple trips including Lisbon, Portugal. All of which fuelled the fire of wanting to become part of this ever evolving industry.
In the past I had always seen fine art as the way forward in furthering my skills and my individuality, however little did I realise the constant need to be different and express my creativity with purpose was perfectly communicated through fashion design. Its an art form I feel challenges me in all aspects from pattern cutting, to designing, manufacturing and market research - all of it is fluid and ever growing, and I hope this blog not only shows my progression but expresses the passion I have for the theory of fashion.
